Pulling the biometrics:

To pull the biometrics of an employee(s), you have to first identify on which reader the physical Bio is.

  1. Select Employee from the Navigation Menu on the left-hand side
  2. Select (tick) the employee(s) which you want to pull the biometrics for
  3. Click on Pull Biometrics and the following wizard will appear. If the Pull Biometrics button is not available, click on the button and select Pull Biometrics from there.
  4. Under DEVICE select the Reader that contains the Bio(s)
  5. Select (tick) Replace Default Template and/or Create Device Template
    • Select Replace Default Template if you wish to replace the Bio template that is stored on the Cloud.
    • Select Create Device Template if you wish to make an individual copy of the Bio that is stored on the selected Reader. This is useful when your employee(s) have Bios across multiple Readers and you need to keep separate copies of each Bio that is kept on each Reader.
  6. Click OK once you are ready and the Pull command will be scheduled in the background.

Once the OK button is pushed, the Pull command is scheduled within the service. This means that the command will not be executed (carried out) immediately but will take place according to the queue of commands being executed.

To check whether or not the Pull command has been executed yet, select Employee from the Navigation Menu on the left-hand side and check if there is a tick under the pulled Bio. If the template is ticked, then the Pull command has been executed.

Pushing the Biometrics:

To push the biometrics of the employee(s) to the Reader(s), you need to make sure that the Employee(s) are linked to the appropriate ‘Device Group’. This can be one device, a set of devices, or all the devices. To check the ‘Device Groups’ available select Device Group from the Navigation Menu on the left-hand side. To check if an employee is linked to a ‘Device Group’ select Employee from the Navigation Menu on the left-hand side and check the ‘Device Group’ column.

Apart from that, you need to make sure that the employee has the Bio stored on the Cloud since this is the source that you will be copying the Bio from. To check whether or not the employee’s Bio is stored on the Cloud, take a look at the employee record card and check that there is a tick under the Bio(s) to push.

If you try to push Bio(s) that are not yet pulled (there is no copy of the Bio(s) on the Cloud), no action is taken, i.e. no Bio(s) are pushed.

If a certain number of Readers have an employee(s) Bio(s) pulled and a Device Template is created for each Bio, once these Bio(s) are pushed, they will replace the respective Bio(s). If three hand Bio(s) are pulled (H1, H2, H3), once these Bio(s) are pushed, H1 will replace H1, H2 will replace H2, and H3 will replace H3. If you want to replace the Bio(s) of all Readers with H1, make sure that H1’s Bio is the only one with a copy on the Cloud. To do this, identify on which Reader H1 is, and when pulling the Bio, select Replace Default Template when asked. Refer to the previous section, Pulling the Biometrics, for further details.

To push the biometrics of the employee(s) to the Reader(s), follow these steps:

  1. Select Employee from the Navigation Menu on the left-hand side
  2. Select (tick) the employee(s)
  3. Click on Push to Device(s) which is located on the title bar on the right-hand side of Pull Biometrics. If the Push to Device(s) button is not available, click on the button and select Push to Device(s) from there. Once the Push to Device(s) button is clicked, the following screen will appear.
  4. Select Yes in the PUSH BIOMETRICS field
  5. Click OK once you are ready and the Push command will be scheduled in the background

Once the OK button is pushed, the Push command will be scheduled within the service. This means that the command will not be executed (carried out) immediately but will take place according to the queue of commands being executed.

Tip: If you are dealing with a large number of employees, it is advisable to do this in batches and not all in one go.
